We’re printing a book that features a collection of poetry by local poets.
Opening date for submissions: August 31, 2020
Deadline: June 30, 2021
Fee: optional $3 donation per submission
The prize: The winning authors will receive publication in the inaugural Free Verse Charleston poetry anthology book, and one free copy of the publication.
Specifications: We’re not looking for any specific poetic form or subject matter. We’re not concerned with limiting word count. Submissions should only be sent as a Word or Pages document. Please do not send a photo or a PDF.
Submission: Poets may submit up to 5 poems. Sending multiple works in a single submission is encouraged. If you are sending multiple pieces, please send them as a single submission. Poets who send in more than 5 poems will be ineligible.
The judges: Marcus Amaker, Charleston, SC’s Poet Laureate, and local published poets (names coming soon).
Publication date: April 2021. The anthology will be published by Free Verse Press.
Eligibility: Open to all poets (of any age, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation) in the Charleston area for a previously unpublished book of poetry. Only poets who live in the Lowcountry are eligible to submit a manuscript.
